Mellerud was named Brand of the Century – Brand of the Century in Germany.
The German company has been confirmed for developing innovative, customer-centric products that deal with household problems.
Mellerud Chemie GmbH can now be proud of the title “Brand of the Century”. The manufacturer of professional and special cleaning solutions from Brüggen (Lower Rhine) has been honored with this title by the publishing group “Die Zeit” (the publishing group awards brands from around 180 categories every year). The company prevailed over its competitors in the field of special cleaning products in three evaluation phases and is now recognized as the German Reference Standard.
Many assisted and unassisted consumer surveys are conducted to identify candidates for this competition. Candidates are then assessed by a panel of judges based on various criteria such as track record or background. The decision is also influenced by how the brand is represented in the market and how strongly the evaluated brand is associated with the respective title. The winner is undisputed. There is no ranking, only the winner of the respective category can be called “Brand of the Century”. According to Maik Bohne, Head of Marketing at Mellerud, the fact that there is no second place emphasizes the importance of the award even more. The title “Brand of the Century” is a confirmation for the company and its employees. In a video recorded for German Standards, Dr. Florian Langenscheidt, editor of “Brands of the Century” said: “Brands are a promise of exceptional performance and perfection in every detail, of quality and tradition.” This trophy is extraordinary for us, emphasizes Bohne.
The award is also recognized outside the borders of Germany. The MELLERUD company, based in Germany, finds its place among the manufacturers of solutions that solve people’s problems, and this is confirmed by customers. In addition, says Bohne, “Die Zeit” as the organizer of this competition enjoys a high level of appreciation and trust among the population and therefore attracts a wide audience. “Choosing a product from among the brands of the century is usually not a spontaneous purchase decision, but demonstrates trust in the supplier,” says the marketing director with conviction. “A brand is always a promise for the future that is based on the past,” he explains, also in view of the 40th anniversary of the founding of Mellerud that was celebrated last year. “Additionally, brands set the tone in markets that are often flooded with unrecognized items,” adds Bohne.
Innovation is an important keyword, says Mellerud’s Marketing Director. The company develops new products in its own laboratory at the company headquarters and conducts surveys before each new development to be as close as possible to customer needs. According to Bohne, the challenge is to develop products from the customer’s point of view that also convince through their effectiveness. He still sees growth potential for specialty cleaning solutions. “We want to expand our range even more,” he announces. The need exists, partly because of the increased need for hygiene and because people spend more time at home. On the other hand, there is a high demand for solutions for various problems, but in a smaller quantity, convenient and comfortable with the budget of each consumer, which Mellerud serves, for example, through its new range of products in the tube.
The big awards ceremony “Brands of the Century” is postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic.
