An Open-Air Cinema Set in Saint John’s Square
On July 16th, 2025, starting at 8:00 PM, Piața Sfântul Ioan (Saint John’s Square) in Brașov was transformed into a true open-air cinema stage, hosting the symphonic concert “Hollywood Classics” performed by the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ionuț Pascu and joined by soprano Aida Pascu.

The concert featured iconic soundtrack excerpts that have shaped the history of cinema:
Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ben Hur, Quo Vadis, Mission: Impossible
Also included were pieces from Batman, Moon River (from Breakfast at Tiffany’s), El Cid, Dr. Zhivago, Chi Mai, Spiderman, Star Trek, among others.
Entry to the square was free of charge, and for those who wanted a seated spot, tickets could be purchased on-site (15 lei).
Although the weather brought rain that evening, the audience’s enthusiasm remained high. The Philharmonic expressed its gratitude to those present, highlighting the cinematic atmosphere created by open umbrellas and raincoats – an evening that turned into a memorable experience.


This event is part of the Brașov Philharmonic’s summer concert series, offering the public unique open-air musical experiences. The legendary film scores brought suspense, romance, and energy, breathing life into Piața Sfântul Ioan, which was transformed into a vibrant cultural space.
Audience reactions reflected the joy of reconnecting with music, regardless of the weather – a true testament that art and passion are stronger than any rain.

An Exceptional Concert in Brașov’s Saint John’s Square

On the evening of June 26th, Saint John’s Square in Brașov turned into an open-air stage filled with elegance and emotion. The first summer symphonic concert of the season, performed by the Brașov Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Daisuke Soga, delighted the audience with a refined program: Musica per Orchestra Sinfonica by Yasushi Akutagawa, Ravel’s Bolero, and the centerpiece of the evening – George Gershwin’s Concerto in F Major.
Brașov-born pianist Ioan-Dragoș Dimitriu, the evening’s soloist, electrified the atmosphere with his rendition of Gershwin’s Concerto in F – a perfect mix of jazz, classical flair, and adrenaline – performed alongside the @filarmonicabrasov and Maestro Daisuke Soga. It was a moment of true synergy between virtuosity, passion, and musical refinement that captivated everyone present.
Recognized for both his talent and his commitment to revitalizing the local cultural scene, Ioan-Dragoș Dimitriu once again proved that Brașov is home to elite musical ambassadors. Met with long applause, the pianist confirmed that music has the power to transform public spaces into genuine artistic sanctuaries.
