The 11th edition of the DHL Carpathian Marathon powered by MPG brought together 11,000 runners over 11 editions, benefiting Romanian Paralympic athletes.

The event has become a benchmark for running enthusiasts, with the number of participants exceeding 11,000 over the 11 editions held to date. The social cause remains an essential component of the event every year.

• On June 18, 2022, the 11th edition of the DHL Carpathian Marathon powered by MPG brought 1,400 runners from 15 countries to Cheile Grădiștei Fundata.

• Over €20,000 was raised on this occasion and will be donated to the Romanian Paralympic Committee.

• Several public figures attended, showing their love for sports and their desire to support Paralympic athletes through their presence.

Among the ambassadors present at the event were:

• Constantina Diță, Olympic marathon champion, who ran the half-marathon course at Cheile Grădiștei Fundata this year, taking 1st place in the women’s category.

• Alexandru Corneschi, Romania’s fastest marathon runner, competed in a mixed relay team and, together with his teammates, achieved the best time in the half-marathon relay event.

• Dragoș Bucurenci, who ran alongside Radu Vâlcan and Alex Ciocan, finishing on the podium.

• Roxana Ciuhulescu, who also participated and supported both adult and child runners throughout the event.

The favorite races again this year were the half-marathon and relay, each with approximately 500 participants at the starting line. In addition, 300 children participated in the Kids Races.

The Paralympic Sports Day took place simultaneously, with activities such as table tennis, tennis, archery, and paraclimbing.

The fastest participant in the marathon race was Ionel Rapotan, completing the course in 4 hours and 20 minutes. In the women’s category, the winner was Ionela Iorga, with a time of 5 hours.
