PRIMA EVADARE 2025 – The Two-Wheeled Adventure That United Nature and Bucharest’s History
On June 15th, 2025, Asociația NoMad Multisport successfully organized a new edition of Prima Evadare, the most popular cross-country cycling marathon in Eastern Europe.
The event brought together hundreds of cycling enthusiasts – from amateur riders to professional athletes – offering them an unforgettable experience through the forests north of Romania’s capital city.
The race started in the morning near Băneasa Park, continuing through Băneasa Forest, across the open fields north of the city, and passing through historical zones, including the old fortifications that once formed Bucharest’s defensive belt.
Throughout the route, participants enjoyed a unique mix of forest trails, country roads, and scenic landscapes, all designed to test their endurance, technical skill, and adventurous spirit.
Prima Evadare is more than just a race – it’s a true celebration of cycling. The atmosphere along the route and at the start/finish area was vibrant, filled with enthusiastic supporters, families, and friends cheering on the riders.
The event stood out for its diverse participant base – from children and teenagers to veteran cyclists – all driven by the same desire to move, explore, and reconnect with nature.
The main goal of the event has always been to promote an active lifestyle and encourage people to spend time outdoors. Prima Evadare 2025 once again proved that sport can be a powerful bridge between people, communities, and the environment.

The competition took place between Bucharest and Snagov, traversing forests, meadows, fields, and country roads over a distance of 55 km, bringing together both amateurs and professionals across various categories.
This year, the event attracted over 2,000 cycling enthusiasts.

PRIMA EVADARE 2023
PRIMA EVADARE is the largest mountain bike marathon in Romania and Eastern Europe.
It is a cross-country cycling competition designed to kick off the MTB marathon season with an easy route, featuring no elevation changes. The race spans 55 kilometers between Bucharest and Snagov, traversing forests and rural roads. While the marathon is accessible to almost anyone, participants are advised to train beforehand—at least three long outings on rough terrain (forest roads, trails) are recommended.
This year, Prima Evadare returned after the pandemic-induced hiatus, celebrating 15 years since its debut! The anniversary edition took place on Sunday, May 21, with the start line in Băneasa. The competition holds an impressive record that’s hard to beat: 3,000 participants at a single edition, aged between 5 and 73 years old, from 29 countries.
True to its name, Prima Evadare was the first competition after the Romanian Revolution that allowed amateur cyclists to compete alongside club-licensed athletes. Over time, the few hundred enthusiasts from the first editions started bringing friends, eventually creating a large community. Due to the growing number of participants, the event now features 16 categories.
Through the organization of this event, Prima Evadare promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging outdoor sports, showcasing the trails and forests in the northern part of Bucharest in a more active way than the typical barbecue outings, and celebrating competition in general.
The event also has an ecological component. In collaboration with local municipalities and volunteers, the roads and paths along the route were cleaned of waste during the event preparation stage. Simultaneously, the organizers have taken steps to protect the forests, lakes, monuments, and other natural or tourist landmarks along the route.

That’s why, for clean air and our health, we are proud to be partners of the Civic Platform Together for the Green Belt (www.centuraverde.ro), an initiative aimed at protecting the forests around the capital and creating the Bucharest-Ilfov Green Belt. We hope that in the future, the competition’s route will become a permanent trail, available to everyone as a green path to the natural relaxation spots around the city.”
This year, over 1,800 cyclists participated in Prima Evadare.
